Windows 10 : A New Gift From Microsoft
The wait for Windows 10 is finally over. Microsoft has launched Windows 10 and it will be available from 29 July as a free upgrade for people who have been using Windows 8.1 or 7 in 190 countries including India.
Microsoft’s chief executive, Satya Nadella described the OS as “Windows as a Service”. He also said that Windows 10 is a huge milestone for them as a company and also for the industry. He also added that features like digital personal assistant Cortana would stand apart, which is comparable to Apple’s Siri and Google Now.
Terry Myerson, executive vice president, Windows and Devices Group, Microsoft said in an interview that a new era of Windows has started and Windows 10 is unique and moreover it will deliver more personal computing vision, with natural, mobile and trusted experience.
He also said that along with their partners, they are excited to deliver the best windows that will empower people and organizations around the world to do great things.
According to the BBC, some of the important features of this new version of Windows: – there is a notification sidebar, a new Internet Explorer web browser that load sites faster and which can help the users to scribble over and share web pages and a biometric authentication facility that could help people to unlock their computers and specific applications.

Moreover, gaming has got a big boost with the support of DirectX 12. The upcoming DirectX 12 games will surely help us to attain a level which was not attained before. In addition to this the built in Xbox app also supports Game DVR which would help to record game sessions, edit them and share them all within the app and also it will also offer cross device game play which will allow people to play games with others in Xbox or Windows 10. The Xbox Music has been rebranded as Groove Music.
All the above mentioned features are only some of the major changes that make the new Windows different from its previous versions.The company said on Monday that it has been taken into mind mobile computing so that it can allow users to switch between PCs, tablets, smartphones and other gadgets. According to the company this will be the last launch of this kind and gradually it will update the software for free over months and years. Now let us see whether this double digit version of Windows will prove as successful for Microsoft.
