Ten months after the launch of the low-cost Z1, Samsung held a launch event for its successor, the Z3. The device aims to make a mark in the low-end of the market, with a price of Rs. 8,490. The Samsung Z3 will be a ‘Make in India’ phone, and will go on sale via offline retail channels as well as Snapdeal.
The Z3’s primary difference is that it, in fact, does not run on Android – it runs on Tizen, Samsung’s proprietary mobile OS. The downside here being that you are unable to use Android apps, and Tizen is an extremely nascent mobile OS, and doesn’t have much app support.
