Jaipur Literature Festival – The Boulder Chapter, US
The world’s largest free literature festival, the Jaipur Literature festival heads to US. With an aim to discover a whole new world this fall, JLF goes to the beautiful city of Boulder ,Colorado. The city of Boulder is known for its highly educated and professional population of more than 100,000. This city has gathered top rankings in various surveys claiming to among the world’s top 10 happiest cities and world’s brainiest cities. Known for its sunny days throughout the year and for the people with deep interests in social,technical and environmental innovation, JLF@Boulder is going to be a treat.
JLF@Boulder is a three day edition, of what has been acknowledged as “the greatest literary show on earth”.
“We at JLF are looking forward to a stimulating and inspirational edition in beautiful Boulder, Colorado,” said Namita Gokhale, author and co-director of the Jaipur Literature Festival.
What to expect ?
Apart from the traditional readings this festival this time will consists of more of panel discussions, interviews and audience Q&A mostly on timely themes of both local and international interests.
International best-selling author Jung Chang, Pulitzer Prize winning poet Vijay Seshadri, Moroccan-American essayist and novelist Laila Lalami, Israeli journalist, political commentator and author Gideon Levy are some of the eminent personalities that are to participate in this event. JLF@Boulder this year will focus on Latin-American, African- American, Asian-American and Regional literature.
“Boulder is a long way from Jaipur, and we are proud to erect our literary ‘Big Top’ in town and to bring the energy, sparkle and brilliance of Indian writing to a very different world,” said William Dalrymple, author and co-director of the Jaipur Literature Festival.
With over 100 award winning authors, thinkers, poets,politicians and people from performing arts and a free and democratic access to all the speakers, discussions and ideas it is only factual that this event be huge success overseas.
Where and When?
The Festival will be held from 18th to 20th September at the Boulder Library and Civic Lawns with a week of lead-up activities held at the Boulder Library, the University of Colorado at Boulder, Naropa University, the Denver Public Library, Denver Art Museum and other venues.
Whether you area a fan of political journalism, diverse poetry, larger than life fiction or just inquisitive this festival is the place to be. From the soothing music session in the morning to the thrilling debates in the evening, each and every day of this festival promises to be grander than before.
