Indian PM Modi’s Visit To Silicon Valley
Will India be successful in achieving its aim of becoming a ‘Digital India’? Will the U.S. visit of our Prime Minister can help to bring investment into our country? Will the ‘Make in India Campaign’ of our PM achieve its goal? These are some of the questions that are being asked many people and only the future knows the answers to all these questions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his second visit to the U.S. and it is the second time after 1982, that an Indian Prime Minister had visited California. His trip was followed by a similar visit by China’s president, Xi Jinping, who met various tech leaders last week in Seattle. Narendra Modi had a Q&A session at the Facebook headquarters and became emotional when asked about his parents. He said that in everybody’s life, their mother plays a very important. Every mother shows the correct path to her child and always support him.
He also told that India is the place where the companies should invest and the government will surely provide a very good environment for all the companies to set up their business and to make his slogan of ‘Start up India, Stand up India’ into reality. He wanted to bring technology investment and jobs back to India to help to grow startups in India and also encouraged Indians who have thrived in the Silicon Valley to bring their knowledge back home.
Ahead of his meeting with Narendra Modi, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg changed his profile picture which is emblazoned with the Indian tri-color in order to show his support for the Digital India initiative. Mark Zuckerberg has more than 35 million followers and our Prime Minister is one of them. Moreover, Zuckerberg is one of the 30 million people who have liked the page of Narendra Modi.
Mark in a status update said that he changed his profile picture to support Digital India and the government’s effort to connect rural communities to the internet and give people access to more services online. Narendra Modi thanked Zuckerberg for his support and followed him with a profile picture change of his own.
After, his Q&A session at Facebook headquarters Narendra Modi went to Google’s office to meet its CEO Sunder Pichai. We should hope that this visit of Narendra Modi to Silicon Valley would help India to bring foreign investment and technology to India which can help India to progress in the direction to become a developed nation.
