India’s No. 1 shot putter, Inderjeet Singh, has been a true fighter in life. Given the circumstances he has faced, any other man in his place would probably have given up on sports. Even after winning the silver medal in the last edition of World University Games Inderjeet was an unknown face, but thanks to his bronze medal at Incheon Asian Games, he has grabbed quite a lot of eyeballs. It is very to sorry to say that athletics Inderjeet Singh does not get the required recognition due to which many of the youngsters think that going into sports like athletics, hockey etc. is not a good idea. Hence, we lack good sportsmen. Apart from cricket and now shooting, tennis and badminton,no other sport is popular in our country. Also, not enough facilities are provided to these sports persons so that they can practice hard and give their best in order to bring our country to the top of medals tally.
It is high time that government should look upon this issue and take some steps in order to improve the condition of sports person like Inderjeet Singh. Giving prize money after they win an event is not enough, helping them and providing them good facilities during their training period is what they want. Apart from the steps the government should take, we as a responsible person and as a good human we should also appreciate their effort and encourage people like Inderjeet Singh so that they can do much better in the future.
