Harry Potter and the Cursed Child- JK Rowling Announces The New Harry Potter Play
JK Rowling Announces New Harry Potter Play. Yes Potterheads, it is finally happening!
The Potter generation has been living in the sidelines ever since the movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2, was released. Sure, there have been short stories and news by Rowling herself on Pottermore and Twitter, but the thrill of a new, full-fleshed story is something they have been lusting after for years. But this wish was also fulfilled by Rowling when she announced a new Harry Potter play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The excitement amongst Potterheads (Harry Potter fans) was doubled since the news was made public on the 18th anniversary of the publication of the first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (known as the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in some countries).
The rumours first surfaced in 2013 of a new story in the Harry Potter series, and in December of the same year Rowling confirmed that she will be writing a new play which will count as a prequel to the entire series as she wishes to write about the events before the story starts. But seems like she has changed her plans because when she introduced the play, which will enjoy its world premiere at the Palace Theater, London, in summer 2016, she made it very clear that this will not be a prequel.
“It will tell a new story, which is the result of a collaboration between writer Jack Thorne, director John Tiffany and myself. I don’t want to say too much more; because I don’t want to spoil what I know will be a real treat for fans. However, I can say that it is not a prequel! I am confident that when audiences see the play, they will agree that it was the only proper medium for the story,” said Rowling.
The New Harry Potter play will provide a respite to the fans who have been waiting long for a surprise like this.
Potterheads, our time has come. We shall rise again!
