Google Nexus 5X Specs, Price, Features And Launch Date
Google and LG Come Together Again for the Nexus 5X – Here’s What We Already Know
Google’s Nexus line of phones has always held a special place in the smartphone pantheon for tech lovers – the Nexus line has traditionally offered a pure, fast android experience, without any clutter or slowdown by skins like TouchWiz, and that too at an affordable price. While the last iteration wasn’t very affordable, the prospect of a new Nexus phone always gets the rumour mills churning and the internet salivating.
While we now have a date for what is probably the announcement of the new Nexus 5X, September 29th, but in today’s leak-infested atmosphere, there is very little we don’t already know about the phone. So, what do we know?
The Nexus 5X has a very plain front, with two grilles for what are presumably front-facing speakers. The back features a fingerprint sensor, above that is placed the camera, beside which is the LED flash and the laser autofocus window – which is a big help, as the old Nexus 5 has problems with focus.
On the specs front, the Nexus 5X features a 5.2-inch screen with a 1920×1080 resolution. It should come with a Snapdragon 808 chipset, which is slower than the current flagship 810. Far from being a knock against the phone, however, this is actually a boon, as the Snapdragon 810 has been mired in problems of overheating since it first came out. Also Read – LG G5
All phones that use the 810, including the OnePlus Two, LG G Flex2, and the HTC One M9 have faced huge problems with overheating. So Google and LG have made a smart move with using the 808, which features two A57 and four A53 cores for a six-core 64-bit processor. Clocked at 1.8Ghz in the Nexus 5X, it’s no slouch.
The phone supports Qualcomm’s quick charging technology, and in a major move forward, switches to the new USB Type-C standard. Which means your current chargers and cables won’t be compatible with the phone, at least without an adapter, but soon all tech products that need charging – laptops, mp3 players, cameras, phones, everything – will be moving to this type or port, so you won’t need many chargers.
There are conflicting reports about how much RAM the phone has – earlier reports said 3GB, but an Amazon India listing said 2GB, so that will remain up in the air till the official announcement. However, 2GB of RAM will be extremely disappointing at this point, as even the Nexus 4 launched in 2012 had 2GB of RAM. It is also expected to come with a 13MP back camera, and a 5MP front camera.
The Nexus 5X will launch in black, white, and ice blue, and should be available in India simultaneous with its global release. For more news and updates on Nexus 5X, stay tuned & subscribe to our newsletter and do not forget to share this article on Facebook, Google Plus and twitter.
