Elephone Vowney Specs, Price, Features And Release Date
Lately, a lot of Chinese manufacturers have been enjoying the benefits of the work done by veterans like Xiaomi and Huawei to legitimize Chinese devices as truly premium products. One among such OEMs is Elephone, who specialized in low-range and mid-range devices up until recently. However, they are now ready to enter the flagship space as well, with their upcoming phone the Elephone Vowney.
The Vowney comes in two variants, differentiated by screen resolution and RAM. The higher end variant comes with a 2560 x 1440 resolution 5.5-inch screen and 4GB of RAM, while the lower end variant will sport a 1920×1080 resolution 5.5-inch screen and 3GB of RAM.
Both variants come with MediaTek’s new flagship chipset – the 64-bit Octacore Helios X10, otherwise known as the MT6795. Packed with eight A53 cores, it comes with a GX6200 GPU, and MediaTek claims it can easily rival a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Both also come with a 4,000mAh battery, which is more than enough to last an entire day, and then some. The back camera will be a 21MP shooter with a Sony IMX230 sensor, which supports slow motion video. Elephone claims the camera adopts 192 phase-detection autofocus technology, which supports no fuzzy tracking and can capture a moving object in 0.15 seconds.
The lower end variant comes with 16GB of onboard storage, while the higher end variant comes with 32GB of onboard storage. Both versions support storage expansion through micro sdcards, upto 128GB, and come loaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Also Read – Doogee Y200
The Elephone Vowney also comes with a Fingerprint sensor at the back – and with a feature that Elephone calls ‘Press Touch ID’, which – they claim – is faster than ordinary touch ID, and can unlock a phone screen in 0.5 seconds. It’s also claimed to be a ‘360 degree rotation identification’, which we assume means that it can recognize made from any angle.
Elephone is pricing the Vowney very aggressively – the higher end variant, with a 2K screen and 4GB RAM, is available at $300, or around Rs. 19,000. Even the Indian price is expected to be around Rs. 22,500. At this price range, it will give heavy competition to the likes of the OnePlus Two, and Xiaomi’s Mi5, whenever that launches in India.
