US Women’s Soccer Team Makes History In The Woman’s World Cup
Even though the entire ordeal of the Women’s World Cup had its share of ups and downs planned for the American team soccer team, the team finally defeated everything and won the series. Carli Lloyd, the midfielder, is one of the main players responsible for the win, and the entire country, yes, including our beloved celebs, cannot hold their excitement. Twitter and Instagram turned out to be a great help for them to show their delight and promote the game even more amongst their followers and fans, raising a massive hype around the tournament of women players.
United States has become the first country in the world to win the tournament three times, and it was all thanks to Lloyd, who also scored the quickest goal in Women’s World Cup final, slicing a shot with the outside of her left foot from a corner kick in the third minute of a 5-2 victory over Japan.
“She always does this to us,” Norio Sasaki, Japan’s coach, said. “We are a bit embarrassed. She is an excellent player. I really respect and admire her.”
Twitter was bursting with celebrity tweets who were watching the match, sitting on their toes, and later showcasing their pleasure on the win.
“Congrats to the #USWNT what a victory!” tweeted Nick Jonas.
Jared Padalecki, the star of the hit CW show, Supernatural, tweeted a picture of himself with his co-star Jensen Ackles, and their respected wives. He has been seen to tweet encouragements and voicing his excitement for the game days before the final event, and throughout the match, he continued to do so.
Chad Michael Murray called the footballer a “bad ass”, congratulating the team, followed many encouraging support from Matthew Morrison, Jeffrey Tambor, Kellan Lutz, Kevin Zegers, Brandon Routh, Josh Groban, Kevin McHale, Sophia Bush, Courtney Cox, Josh Duhamel, Justin Timberlake and many others.
“What a win for Team USA! Great game @CarliLloyd! Your country is so proud of all of you. Come visit the White House with the World Cup soon.” tweeted the President, Barack Obama, followed by his wife who was chanting USA! repeatedly.
Sensations such as Beyoncé, Fergie and writer John Green also shared their support on their various social media accounts. All in all, everyone was extremely gleeful and the celebrations are still ongoing.
