Once In A Blue Moon – Explained Astronomically

“Once in a blue moon”  is an idiom which is used to define an event which occurs rarely, once in a very long time. But according to astronomy, there are two definitions of full Moon. Firstly, it may be the third full  in an astronomical season with 4 full Moons. Secondly, it may be also be defined as the second full Moon in a month with two full Moons.  The idiom which is used today can be attributed to a Sky and Telescope writer who in 1946 tried to clear up the confusion of the definition published by the Marine Farmers Almanac.

Has NASA discovered another Earth?

Another success for scientists of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration a.k.a. NASA after they have found a planet like our planet Earth has a size similar to that of our planet. This discovery of new planet has again proved that the scientist are working day in and day out to find life on all other planets.

NASA’s New Horizons

Finally, NASA’s New Horizons has reached Pluto after covering a distance of 3 billion miles. It took nine and half years for the New Horizon to complete its journey. A signal was received from the New Horizons spacecraft through a giant dish in Madrid, Spain- part of a NASA network of communications antennas. The time taken by the signal to complete the distance of 4.7 billion km took about 4 hours and 25 minutes.

Aliens visit Earth – NASA keeping us in the dark?
