Bomb Blast in Bangkok, 16 Dead
The Bomb Blast in Bangkok shook the world. Bad news hit Thailand when a bombing ended up shaking the whole country. Bangkok, the capital of the country, suffered from a blast when a bomb was put in a shrine on Monday, 17 August.
The bomb was planted in the most renowned shrine of the capital, Erawan, and reports say that 16 people have been killed. Three of the deceased were tourists, two from China, and one from Philippines, visiting the country for a holiday. Must Read: LG G5 Specifications
It was earlier rumoured that 27 people have died but Somyot Poompanmuang, the chief of national police, cleared up the number. He also revealed more information about the bomb to the public. He reported that the bomb was a pipe bomb and was placed inside the Erawan shrine. It was reported that 81 people have been injured overall, most of them being a citizen of China or Taiwan. Government accounts that they believe it to be an act which was done to directly destroy the economy. They have reported that the government will also be working on a “war room” to focus directly on the incident and come up with a counterattack.
Prawit Wongsuwan, Defence Minister of the country, said: “The perpetrators intended to destroy the economy and tourism, because the incident occurred in the heart of the tourism district.”
It is accountable to view that as the motive as the shrine is on a very busy corner. It is surrounded by hotels of top ratings, shopping malls, offices, hospitals, etc., and overall is a very crowded tourist attraction. But there is still no official claim for the reasons behind the attack. Police have been working to figure out the mystery attached to it. At first they suspected Muslims and are keeping a close eye on them, but history suggests no previous attacks on such a scale as this on the country by the group.
