4G LTE Enabled Alcatel Flash 2 Announced, Sports 13MP Camera

by Deepit MageeSeptember 24, 2015

While Alcatel cannot claim to be among the more prominent Android OEMs out there, the company seems dead set on reaching the heights attained by Xiaomi, Huawei and the like. It has recently impressed with its Idol 3 phones, available in both 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch variants. Keeping up with the great devices, Alcatel has announced the OneTouch Flash 2, their latest offering.

As is evident by its name, the Flash 2 is a camera focused smartphone. It sports a 13MP back camera termed ‘gSight’, powered by a Samsung S5K3M2 ISOCELL Sensor – which promises good quality even in low light conditions. The camera is unique as it gives you manual settings not seen even in most flagships. The in-built photo editor is also fully featured with lomo effects, a graduated filter, and a curves editor – something photography aficionados will surely appreciate. It also shoots full HD 1080p video at 30fps, and can take time lapse videos!

Even the 5MP front camera that Alcatel are calling ‘Profie’ comes with a larger 1/4” OV5648 sensor and ƒ/2.2 aperture. The camera can auto-click photos on detection of smiles or the ‘V’ gesture, and also supports a picture-in-picture mode for taking photos with both cameras simultaneously.

As for the rest of the specs, it features a 5-inch IPS LCD display supporting a 1280×720 resolution, with a decent ppi (pixels-per-inch) ratio of 294. It’s powered by a fairly decent 1.3Ghz MediaTek MTK6573, a newer revision of the extremely popular MTK6572. With 8 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.3Ghz, the phone should be fairly fast for all day-to-day tasks. Must Read – LG G5

Thankfully, the phone has 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, which is a definite necessity these days, as 1GB just doesn’t cut it anymore. The 3000mAh battery is also a very decent size, and Alcatel are claiming it can do 25 hours of music playback, or 5 hours straight of video playback.

The phone is 4G LTE enabled, which is important as the technology is slowly but surely being rolled out across India now.

Although Alcatel hasn’t announced the exact price of the OneTouch Flash 2, we can safely assume the phone won’t be too expensive. It looks to be a solid offering, featuring very decent specs and some truly unique camera features.
